Lead Compositor

Lead Compositor role:

Candidates should ideally have at least three years lead experience along with high-level expertise using Nuke and working closely with other teams in a full VFX pipeline. There will be plenty of opportunity for hands-on compositing in addition to supervising and guiding others in the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating on pitches, script breakdowns, bidding shots
  • Working with the 3d dept to establish methodologies and workflows on a per project basis
  • Assisting artists technically and problem solving scripts
  • Establishing concepts, looks and templates for sequences
  • Helping to develop the 2d pipeline
  • Working with editorial to set up project VFX pipeline
  • Liaising with production and external VFX Supervisors
  • Briefing and directing the comp team and overseeing workflow
  • Communicating with production and other department heads regarding shot progress, creative approach and schedule
  • Liaising with team to address client comments and recording progress
  • Attending dailies and client screenings
  • QC checks of shots
  • Ensuring projects are brought in on schedule and within budget
  • Managing remote workflow – from DMP artists to roto work

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with clients, production and team members
  • Experience working on episodic long form projects
  • Excellent understanding of VFX pipeline process
  • Ability to motivate and mentor junior artists and promote team morale
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task across more than one project
  • On set and ShotGrid experience useful
  • Knowledge of Python a bonus
