Our Louise Hastings and Dominic Alderson were down at the VFX Festival in London’s Shoreditch yesterday to deliver a talk and answer questions on the visual effects for Doctor Who Christmas special episode “Twice Upon A Time”.
A milestone Doctor Who episode – as Peter Capaldi’s last and Jodie Whitaker’s first – Louise and Dom revealed their approach to the regeneration sequence; the process of creating the Glass Woman; freezing time and falling snow in the South Pole and bringing to life the iconic Dalek creatures.
They also chatted to the Escape team about their favourite VFX moment of this year…
Team Milk’s Chris West, Rory Jones were down at the VFX festival too, along with Dom, to deliver a 2d and 3d showreel and CV clinic session at the Festival, providing tips and advice to industry newcomers.
Organised by Escape Studios, part of Pearson College London, the annual VFX Festival celebrates the best in VFX, Games, Animation and Motion Graphics. Over three jam-packed days the most dynamic and enterprising films, games and animations of the past year are presented. The festival assembles industry leaders through a range of talks, workshops, panels and interactive exhibition spaces. It takes place at arts and cultural hub, Rich Mix in Shoreditch.
